City hall weddings have so many beautiful aspects to them with a unique atmosphere. They're an incredible blend of a municipal setting combined with the formal intimacy of a small wedding. Documentary-style wedding photography tells your story exactly as it unfolds, from moment to moment.I got married at City Hall in Manhattan and therefore these weddings hold a special place in my heart. My role as your documentary-style photographer is to blend into the background with a calm presence, letting your celebration flow naturally while I capture it.The couples I work with often tell me that they don’t like posing for photos or dislike having their picture taken (if that sounds familiar, you’ve come to the right place). While documentary wedding photography is my speciality and passion, I will of course take some group shots (including of the wedding party when applicable), typically spending no more than 15-20 minutes on them.

Your wedding day doesn’t need direction; it only needs someone who sees it. My role is to capture the unscripted moments as they are happening rather than imposing any ideas. As a result, I don’t give any direction. I document your wedding as it truly happens. You shouldn’t feel that your wedding is a performance. My wish is that you spend as little time thinking about photos as possible, and all of your time simply enjoying the day together.

Absolutely. Even though I'm based in New York as a New York wedding photographer, I’ll travel anywhere in the United States. I can shoot destination weddings outside the country as well.

The best way is to contact me with your wedding date and location so that I can check my availability. After that, we can meet either via phone, video chat, or in person to discuss details and get to know one another. I require a $200 non-refundable deposit in order to hold the date. The remainder of the balance is due no later than 1 month prior to the wedding. If you are working with a shortened time frame (less than one month before the wedding), full payment is due upon booking.

The exact timeline will vary, but typically it takes 4 to 6 weeks for me to edit your images and provide you with them. This timeframe allows me to dedicate the time your photos deserve to create a gallery of truly lasting memories. Once complete, you'll be sent a link to your online gallery.

During an NYC City Hall wedding, photography is welcomed, but the City Clerk asks that photographers remain respectful. Photos are not allowed at the security checkpoint, and staff may remind us to keep walkways clear. I focus on candid, documentary-style images during your city hall wedding ceremony so the experience stays authentic.

No, a permit is not required for handheld photography after a New York City Hall wedding. We can capture portraits on the courthouse steps or in City Hall Park without issue. A permit would only be needed if you plan to bring large equipment or block space. Since guest attendance is capped at four adults plus you and your partner, the flow outside is simple and relaxed.

Weather often becomes part of the story. Rain or snow can add atmosphere, and we can always step under covered spots if needed. The good news is that because your ceremony is appointment-based, we’ll know exactly when you’ll be inside, and we can plan portraits around the weather with flexibility.

Absolutely. After your visit to the NYC Marriage Bureau (or the other City Clerk offices) to secure your marriage license and complete your ceremony, we can walk to several nearby spots. I'm happy to discuss some options with you during our call.
