Newborn Photography in Connecticut

Recording your baby’s natural, affectionate moments.

focus on real newborn baby
In Connecticut, newborn photography captures the quiet and tender beauty of your baby’s first days. It could be the way their little fingers curl around yours or the soft, peaceful expressions they make while resting. These simple, natural details tell the story of your family in a way that is authentic, intimate, and deeply moving.

I focus on real, unscripted moments, photographing your baby as they are, either in your arms or in the comfortable and familiar setting of your Connecticut home. These photographs provide lasting memories, preserving the emotional depth and sweetness of those first days for you to treasure for years to come.

My Approach
to Documentary-Style
Newborn Photography

Newborn photography in a documentary style tells your family’s story just as it unfolds in real life. With years of experience capturing newborns, I have learned to notice the small, fleeting moments; the tiny stretches and movements in sleep, the spontaneous expressions of contentment, and the quiet, tender interactions shared with parents. My role is to remain in the background, creating a calm space while I document what is already happening naturally.

The goal is for your images to reflect the peace, intimacy, and authenticity of these early days. Parents often note that the experience feels calming and allows them to be fully present, focusing on their newborn without distraction.

By limiting the number of families I photograph each year, I can give each session the attention and care it requires. This allows me to capture every meaningful detail and create photographs that truly preserve the delicate beauty and emotional depth of your newborn’s first days.

Frequently Asked Questions: Documentary Newborn Photography in Connecticut

  • As a newborn photographer specializing in documentary imagery, I focus on recording the real and unposed moments that happen naturally in your home. Your baby’s early days are rich with tender, subtle, and fleeting details that do not need to be created because they already exist. My role is to pay careful attention, capture these moments faithfully, and transform them into photographs that convey the true emotions and intimacy of this special time.

  • Yes. Even though I concentrate on natural and spontaneous images that tell your family’s unique story, I also take time to capture a few posed group shots. These usually require no more than five to ten minutes, ensuring that the session remains calm, enjoyable, and focused on your newborn.

  • You do not need to prepare or act in any way during your newborn session. My role is to capture the quiet, authentic moments that happen naturally between you and your child without staging or forcing poses. When needed, I provide gentle suggestions, such as where to sit for optimal lighting, but otherwise the session is guided by your family’s natural flow. This allows you to be fully present, enjoy the closeness with your newborn, and almost forget that photographs are being taken.

  • Yes. My base is in New York City, but I am happy to travel across New York and throughout the United States to photograph newborns. Traveling allows the session to be conducted in a comfortable and familiar environment, making it easier to capture genuine moments.

  • The easiest way to arrange a session is to reach out with your preferred date and location so that I can check whether the date is open. Once that is confirmed, we can go over all session details either via phone, video chat, or in-person meeting. A $200 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve the date. The remaining balance will need to be paid at least one month prior to the session. If your booking is made with less than a month’s notice, full payment is required at the time of booking.

  • Typically, families can expect to receive their edited images within four to six weeks. This allows time for meticulous attention to detail during the editing process, ensuring that your gallery reflects the tenderness, love, and fleeting moments of your baby’s early life. A secure link to your online gallery will be sent once all images are ready for download and viewing.

  • Yes, I am fully insured with professional indemnity and public liability coverage. A certificate of insurance can be provided for added confidence and reassurance.

  • Newborns are easiest to photograph during the first two weeks after birth, when they are naturally sleepy and flexible for posing. Booking early allows you to secure a spot on the calendar and plan your session around your due date without stress.

  • Newborn sessions generally last two to four hours, providing time for feeding, comforting, gentle repositioning, and capturing both calm and playful moments in a relaxed, unhurried setting.

  • Sessions take place in the comfort of your home, creating a relaxed environment for your baby and family. Photographing in your personal space encourages authentic, candid images that reflect your daily life and natural interactions.

  • Many clients prefer simple, soft clothing such as neutral onesies or swaddles. The focus is always on your baby, so your choice of comfortable, natural clothing is perfect.

  • Absolutely. Including siblings and parents enhances the session, capturing the love, connection, and family dynamic that makes these early days so meaningful.

  • It is completely normal for newborns to be unsettled at times. I move at your baby’s pace, capturing authentic, natural moments whether they are awake, soothed, or sleeping. These candid images often become the favorites in your gallery.

  • There is very little preparation needed for a newborn photography session in Connecticut because I believe that natural light and a comfortable space are all that is required to create authentic, tender images. I am happy to answer any questions before or during the session so that you feel relaxed, confident, and fully prepared to enjoy the experience with your baby.
