Newborn Photography in Long Island
Treasuring the delicate and sincere times with your baby.
Newborn photography on Long Island focuses on capturing the quiet, beautiful moments that define your baby’s first days. It can be the tiny curl of their fingers around yours or the softest expressions of serenity while they sleep. These natural, unscripted details tell the story of your growing family in a tender and meaningful way.
I prioritize authentic, real-life moments, photographing your newborn as they are, whether in your arms or the warmth and familiarity of your Long Island home. These photographs become timeless treasures, preserving the fleeting tenderness and love that marks those early days with your child. My Approach
to Documentary-Style
Newborn Photography
Documentary newborn photography is about capturing your family’s life as it naturally unfolds. Over the years, I have developed an eye for noticing subtle and fleeting moments; the way your baby stretches, the soft expressions that come unexpectedly, and the tender interactions that occur between family members. My approach is quiet and unobtrusive, allowing these moments to happen naturally while I photograph them in a calm and relaxed environment.
Your photographs should feel as genuine as these early days. Parents frequently share that sessions are grounding and soothing, giving them the chance to pause, reflect, and fully enjoy the presence of their newborn.
By photographing only a limited number of families each year, I am able to give each session the care and attention it truly deserves. This focus ensures that each detail is captured thoughtfully, resulting in photographs that preserve the intimacy, authenticity, and tenderness of these first days.

My work as a documentary newborn photographer is dedicated to capturing life in its most genuine form, without posing or staging any moments. The earliest days of your baby’s life are already full of intimate, delicate, and fleeting details. It is my responsibility to notice these moments, preserve them thoughtfully, and ensure that each photograph reflects the natural beauty, quiet emotion, and authenticity of your newborn’s first experiences.
-
Yes, certainly. My expertise is in capturing genuine, documentary-style moments, but I also dedicate a few minutes to creating posed family portraits. This portion of the session usually takes between five and ten minutes, ensuring that you have both authentic candid images and classic family keepsakes.
-
There is no expectation for you to pose or perform during a newborn photography session. I am here to quietly and gently capture the natural, heartfelt moments that unfold between you and your baby. Guidance is offered sparingly, for example suggesting the best lighting or angle, but otherwise the session moves according to your family’s natural rhythm. My goal is for you to feel fully relaxed, enjoy your time together, and let the camera blend into the background while preserving these precious memories.
-
Yes. Although I operate from New York City, I am willing to travel anywhere in New York and throughout the United States for newborn sessions. This allows families to have their newborn photography in the comfort and familiarity of their preferred location.
-
The most straightforward way to secure a session is to contact me with your intended date and location so I can confirm that I am available. After this, we can connect to discuss the details of the session, whether that is by phone, video call, or in person. A $200 non-refundable deposit is required to officially hold the date. The remaining balance is due at least one month before the session. For sessions booked within a month of the desired date, full payment must be made at the time of booking.
-
Delivery times may vary slightly, but in most cases, families receive their completed and edited newborn images within four to six weeks. This allows me to invest the necessary care and attention into each photograph to create a cohesive gallery that preserves the most precious early moments. You will receive a secure link to your online gallery for viewing and downloading once the process is finished.

Yes, I carry both professional indemnity and public liability insurance. Certificates can be supplied if needed for reassurance or verification purposes.

The first two weeks after birth are generally the ideal time for newborn photography. Babies are usually at their sleepiest during this period, making it easier to capture calm, tender, and peaceful moments. Booking early ensures that your preferred date is available and fits around your baby’s arrival.
-
Sessions typically last between two and four hours. This timeframe accommodates feeding, comforting, and gentle repositioning, allowing ample opportunity to capture both quiet and lively expressions without feeling rushed.
-
I conduct sessions in your home so that your baby and family are comfortable and at ease. This natural setting allows for authentic, intimate, and candid photographs that reflect the real dynamics of your new family life.
-
Soft, simple clothing such as swaddles or neutral onesies is preferred, but the choice is yours. I work with whatever feels natural and comfortable for your baby, creating a timeless and authentic look.
-
Yes, including parents and siblings adds depth and context to your images. Capturing the love and connection among the family creates a richer, more meaningful gallery.
-
This is completely normal. I move at your baby’s pace and capture moments whether awake, soothed, or sleeping. Often, these candid and unscripted moments become the most treasured images in your collection.
