Newborn Photography in the Upper East Side
Holding onto the pure, heartfelt moments with your child.
In the Upper East Side, newborn photography captures the tender, fleeting moments that make a baby’s first days so remarkable. It might be the curl of a tiny hand around your finger or the peaceful, restful expressions that only occur in deep sleep. These simple, natural moments tell the story of your family in a way that is both intimate and meaningful.
I focus on capturing authentic, unscripted interactions, photographing your baby exactly as they are, whether in your arms or the comforting setting of your Upper East Side home. These photographs provide a timeless reminder of the love, warmth, and wonder you experienced as you welcomed your child into the world. My Approach
to Documentary-Style
Newborn Photography
Newborn photography in a documentary style captures your family’s life as it is lived in the earliest days. My years of experience have made me attuned to noticing the small, fleeting details that tell the story of your family; the stretch of tiny limbs, the soft expressions that arrive unexpectedly, and the gentle interactions shared with your baby. I remain unobtrusive, providing a calm and relaxed environment that allows the moments to unfold naturally while I photograph them.
Your photographs should feel as natural and intimate as these early days themselves. Parents often mention how calming and grounding the experience feels, giving them the opportunity to slow down, breathe, and connect fully with their newborn.
I carefully choose to work with only a few families each year so that I can dedicate my full attention to every session. This allows me to capture each precious detail with care and create images that preserve the authenticity and emotion of your family’s first days.

In my role as a documentary newborn photographer, I strive to capture the real and unscripted moments of your baby’s life. Those early days are already rich with tender, quiet details that reveal the sweetness and intimacy of new parenthood. Rather than directing or posing, I simply notice and preserve these natural occurrences so that your photos reflect the truth and the beauty of your family’s earliest interactions.
-
Yes, there will be. Even though my primary focus is on capturing the authentic, documentary-style moments that naturally unfold, I include a short period for posed family portraits. These formal shots usually take between five and ten minutes, allowing the family to be photographed together while maintaining a relaxed and natural session flow.

There is no requirement for you to pose or perform during a newborn session. I focus on gently capturing the real, unscripted moments that happen as you interact with your baby. Guidance is provided only when it helps enhance the image, such as selecting the optimal placement for lighting. Beyond that, the session flows naturally with your family’s rhythm. The intention is for you to relax, be present with your newborn, and almost forget the camera is there at all.
-
Yes, I do travel. My studio is based in New York City, but I am available to travel across New York and throughout the United States for newborn photography sessions. This ensures that your session can take place wherever it is most convenient and comfortable for your family.
-
The recommended way to reserve your session is by contacting me with your desired date and location to confirm availability. Once the date is tentatively held, we can discuss session details either on the phone, through a video call, or in person according to your preference. A deposit of $200, which is non-refundable, is required to secure the date. The remaining balance must be paid at least one month before the session. If your booking is within less than one month of the date, full payment is required at the time of scheduling.
-
While timing may vary slightly, most families receive their newborn images within four to six weeks. This timeframe allows me to devote careful attention to each photograph, ensuring that your gallery truly preserves the tender, fleeting moments of early parenthood. You will receive a link to your online gallery once editing is complete.

The first two weeks after birth are typically best for capturing newborns, as they are most likely to sleep peacefully. Booking your session early helps guarantee availability and allows us to plan around your due date.

Sessions generally last between two and four hours, providing enough time for feeding, soothing, gentle repositioning, and capturing both calm and playful moments without rushing.

Sessions are conducted in your home so that your baby and family are comfortable and relaxed. This natural environment supports candid, authentic photographs that reflect your daily life as a new family.

Most clients choose soft swaddles or neutral-colored onesies, but the choice is flexible. I work with whatever clothing feels most natural and comfortable for your baby.

This is very normal. I always follow your baby’s cues, capturing real, natural moments whether they are awake, being soothed, or falling asleep. Many of these spontaneous moments become the most treasured images.
