A 141 Worth St Wedding (aka The NYC City Hall Marriage Bureau) is always a good choice!

If you’ve followed me on Instagram, or have looked through this website, you’ve definitely seen some of the photos made at City Hall Weddings; particularly the weddings held at the Manhattan Marriage Bureau, located at 141 Worth St. I can’t accurately express how much I enjoy every single thing about a City Hall wedding. Of course I’m a little biased, as my husband and I were married at City Hall (a million years ago, by an officiant who looked exactly like Norm on the TV show “Cheers”)! But it’s not just the sentimentality of being in the building that gets to me - it’s the incredible combination of the elegant and the municipal; the couples in full formal wedding attire and those in matching hoodies and jeans; the sort of organized chaos of it all.

I’ve photographed City Hall weddings where I was both photographer and witness, and I’ve been there alongside parents, siblings and best friends. I’ve photographed my couples talking with other couples with whom they become forever bonded by their choice of venue. And I’ve been showered in the confetti of a separate celebration when leaving the building and it is ALL FANTASTIC.

The wedding I’m featuring here is that of Sarah and Jake, who were so excited to exchange vows that I think they never really stopped smiling. They did what several of my City Hall couples have done in recent years, which is get married with just their parents in attendance and then have a big reception party on a different day. Such a fabulous way to celebrate, in my opinion. Of course, there’s really no wrong way to be married at City Hall (there’s no ‘wrong’ way to be married anywhere, for that matter), so if you love a laid back vibe and the fun of other couples all around who think they same way, 141 Worth St might be for you!
