A summer wedding in Israel

There was a special joy in the air. Jewish weddings always have an additional energy - a love and joining of community that is not always present at every ceremony I’ve attended. And then, this was a wedding of two brides which spawned an additional layer of triumph, love, acceptance and exhilaration. This snapshot is the majority of Israel - a country far more progressive than its government, and more accepting than so many other places around the world. This is love, pure and simple.

There were so many things about this wedding that I loved. The couple, of course. The palpable love of their many family and friends. The relaxed atmosphere and the utter lack of judgement or ‘rules’ around dress code. It was a very hot day and many people were in shorts. I found this refreshing and perfectly in keeping with the tone of the entire event. If there is one tip I can give anyone, it’s that your wedding should reflect your personality. If there was every a time to be who you genuinely are, it is your wedding day. What made this wedding extra special - what makes any wedding special and unique - was not the clothes people wore or the extravagance of the venue, but the relationships between the guests and the brides, and the love everyone shared.
