Candid, Natural Wedding Photography in New York City
Genuine, unposed photos that tell your story.
My Approach to Natural Wedding Photography in New York
Documentary wedding photography is an art that captures your wedding exactly as it unfolds. For couples planning a New York wedding, I specialize in noticing the small, intimate moments that make your celebration truly yours. From spontaneous laughter to tender glances and joyful tears, I document your day with a calm, observant presence, allowing the wedding to unfold naturally without directing or staging any moments.
Your wedding photos should feel as genuine as your day itself. Many couples say that my steady approach helps them stay present, letting them enjoy every moment fully. I follow the rhythm of your New York wedding, whether it’s lively and full of energy or intimate and quiet, ensuring each meaningful interaction is captured. By taking on only 12 to 15 weddings per year, I can devote my full attention to telling the story of your wedding day with care and artistry.
Some Styles of Weddings I Photograph
Whichever type of wedding you’re planning, I’ll photograph it. I love documenting weddings of every style, and each celebration brings its own story. Below are just a few examples of the many weddings I’ve photographed.
City Hall & Elopement Weddings
Spontaneous, stylish, and stress-free weddings captured with authenticity and care. From quick courthouse vows to intimate city strolls, I document the joy and energy of your day in a natural, candid way.
Beach Weddings
A calm approach that lets the shoreline set the scene. I focus on the genuine moments unfolding throughout your special day—the light shifting over the water, laughter carried on the wind, and the connection between you and your loved ones with the ocean as the backdrop.
LGBTQ+ Weddings
An inclusive and affirming approach to celebrating all love stories with heart and honesty. I create a space where you feel seen, supported, and free to express your love exactly as it is.
Jewish Wedding Photography
Sensitive to the cultural nuances and rituals that make each celebration meaningful. From the ketubah signing to the hora, I honor every tradition while capturing the emotion and connection at the heart of it all.

A true documentary wedding photographer focuses entirely on capturing your wedding as it naturally unfolds instead of arranging moments for the camera. Your wedding photographs should tell the story of your day exactly as it happened with genuine laughter, meaningful interactions, and heartfelt emotion. As your New York wedding photographer, I bring a calm and supportive presence to every celebration while quietly observing and documenting the authentic moments that make your wedding day unique.

Every couple has their own story, and the images that couples cherish most are often not the posed or formal portraits but the spontaneous, candid moments that unfold naturally throughout the day. This is the essence of documentary wedding photography: capturing the authentic, unscripted story of your wedding as it happens. Each couple is unique, and your wedding will have its own personality and rhythm. Documentary wedding photography ensures that your photographs reflect your individual style and the special moments that make your day unlike anyone else’s, creating memories you will treasure forever.
-
Yes. Although my main focus is documentary wedding photography, I understand the importance of capturing some group portraits for your wedding day. Typically, I spend no more than 15 to 20 minutes arranging and photographing these posed shots, allowing the majority of the day to remain authentic and unscripted while still providing you with a few traditional images for family and friends.
-
Your wedding day is a series of genuine moments that do not need to be staged or directed; it only requires someone who can observe and capture them. My role as your photographer is to record these unscripted moments exactly as they occur, without imposing any ideas or creating artificial scenes. I do not provide direction or pose you. Instead, I document your wedding authentically so that you can fully enjoy the day without feeling like you are performing. My goal is for you to spend your time immersed in your celebration and connection rather than worrying about photographs.
-
Yes. Working in a documentary style, I focus on capturing every candid and fleeting moment of your wedding day. From the preparations to the ceremony and all the celebrations that follow, I document the genuine emotions, interactions, and details that make your day completely unique.
-
Absolutely. While I am based in New York and work regularly as a New York wedding photographer, I am happy to travel anywhere within the United States to capture your wedding. I also have experience photographing destination weddings in international locations, bringing the same attention to detail and documentary approach to every celebration regardless of where your wedding takes place.
-
The most effective way to get started is to contact me with your wedding date and location so that I can confirm my availability. Once that is set, we can connect either by phone, video call, or in person to go over the details and ensure we are a good fit. To secure your date, I require a non-refundable deposit of $200. The remaining balance must be paid no later than one month before the wedding. If your booking occurs less than one month before the wedding, full payment is required at the time of booking.
-
The timeline can vary slightly depending on the wedding and the number of images, but it generally takes between four and six weeks for me to carefully edit your photographs. This allows me to devote the necessary time and attention to each image, ensuring that your gallery reflects the quality and emotion of your wedding day. Once the editing process is complete, you will receive a link to an online gallery where all of the finalized images are available for viewing and sharing.
-
Yes, I carry full insurance coverage, including both professional indemnity and public liability policies. If the venue requires proof, I am happy to provide a certificate of insurance directly to the venue owners or managers. I also recommend that you ensure all other vendors you hire for your wedding are fully insured, which helps protect your day and everyone involved.
-
Yes. Beyond photographing weddings, I also provide engagement sessions designed to feel relaxed and authentic. As your engagement photographer, my focus is on capturing the real moments between you and your partner rather than relying on posed or staged shots. This approach ensures that your engagement images genuinely reflect your connection, personality, and relationship.
-
Many couples mention that my steady and calming presence helps them feel at ease throughout the day. As a New York wedding photographer, I combine documentary storytelling with an editorial eye to capture moments that are completely authentic while also visually striking. Each photograph reflects the uniqueness and emotion of your wedding day.
-
Absolutely. I make sure the bridal party is captured naturally throughout the day, focusing on authentic interactions rather than forcing poses. By observing and documenting these candid moments, I preserve the energy, laughter, and genuine connections that occur without trying to control how your photographs should appear.
